Experts call for close cooperation with mass media A round table on the topic "Formation of information-oriented society and opposing mass mind control" took place within the framework of an all-Russian conference "On the role of woman in modern society", organized under the auspices of Russian Muslimas Union and with support of Russia Muftis Council.

This discussion, moderated by the head of RMC economics department Madina Kalimullina, was joined by famous TV presenter Dinara Sadretdinova, chief editor of women Muslim magazine "Musulmanka" Gulnar Dzhemal and leaders of charitable organizations.

Among other issues, participants of the talk discussed media coverage of events connected with Islam, Muslims and charity in secular media.

In particular, chairwoman of social volunteers movement "Ya s Toboy" Gelsu Suleymanova from Astrakhan made a presentation on the activity of her non-profit organization. She especially stressed the need to inform media of any forthcoming events in advance, present information in a clear and accurate way, and divide responsibilities inside the team. According to her, even the less popular media can help establish contacts with the bigger and more influential ones that can affect public opinion.

In her turn, head of the press service of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of European Russia Dilara Ahmetova reminded of a recent TV news piece which presented false information about the madrasah of Moscow Muslim community "Kawthar". During her speech, head of SAMER press service shared her practical tips on how to organize an informational campaign, build up relations with the mass media and evade "informational bombing attacks".

Chief editor of magazine "Musulmanka" Gulnar Dzhemal encouraged others to create magazines that would focus not just on Muslims. Muslims should get proper education to work in federal media and oppose the kind of materials we see lately. According to Gulnar Dzhemal, Muslims should learn to present information in such a way as to make it interesting not only to Muslims, but also to general public.

Deputy chairman of Russia Muftis Council Rushan hazrat Abbyasov, answering the question about Russian Muslim television, said that Russia Muftis Council had an agreement with different structures on the beginning of broadcast, but this is a closed issue now, and today there is only Internet channel Al-RTV.

"Despite this, Russia Muftis Council works actively with media and on the Internet, preparing special news reports that can be seen both on the official site of Russia Muftis Council and in our groups in social networks," said Rushan hazrat Abbyasov.

Members of the round table also answered questions of the speakers.
