Deputy chairman of Russia Muftis Council Rushan hazrat Abbyasov met with Zumriyat Rezakhanova, mother of Zita and Gita Rezakhanova—Siamese twin sisters divided in 2003.

During this meeting, Zumriyat Rezakhanova told of the life of her daughters, saying that Gita leads an active lifestyle, studies and gives classes at the local madrasah (weekend school), but as for Zita, her condition can be only described as satisfactory. She is currently under medical supervision in one of Moscow hospitals, awaiting eye prosthetics surgery, since she is rapidly losing her eyesight due to serious infection.

Zumriyat Rezakhanova also said that due to financial problems she cannot stay with her sick daughter, and Zita needs attention and support.

Besides moral and spiritual support, Rezakhanov family needs financial assistance.

Rushan hazrat Abbyasov said that Russia Muftis Council will provide spiritual and financial support for Zita Rezakhanova. He added that RMC volunteers are already visiting Zita and teach her the basics of Islam and Arabic language.

"A hadith of Propher Muhammad (peace and prayer be upon him) says: 'The Merciful is merciful to the merciful. Be merciful to the Earth dwellers, and the Master of Heaven will be merciful to you' (narrated by Abu Daud). And we call up to all indifferent people to help Rezakhanov family both financially and spiritually," said RMC deputy chairman.
