A delegation of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Bahrain, headed by Chairman of the Committee of International Affairs, Defense and National Security of the House of Deputies of Bahrain Abdul Rahman Rashid Bumajid, visited Russia Muftis Council.

The delegation was met by RMC Deputy Chairman Rushan hazrat Abbyasov. The meeting was also attended by the head of RMC International Department Renat Abyanov and the head of International Relations Office of the same department Ildar Galeev.

During the meeting, Rushan hazrat Abbyasov greeted the delegation on behalf of the Chairman of Russia Muftis Council, leader of Russian Muslims mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, and told them of the history of Islam in Russia and notable events organized by Russia Muftis Council.

Rushan hazrat especially stressed the upward trend of Russian-Bahraini relations, including cooperation in religious affairs. “We were very glad to learn about our fellow countrywoman placing first in the International Qur’an Reading Contest in Bahrain, and we are satisfied with our working relationships with a number of organizations from Bahrain,” he said.

Abdul Rahman Bumajid, in his turn, said that Russia and Bahrain have much in common with each other in the terms of multinationality and tolerance of the society. He also noted that the construction of such a large mosque as the Jum’ah Mosque in the very heart of Moscow is a big breakthrough for Russian Muslims.

According to Mr Bumajid, Bahrain systematically hosts events devoted to interfaith dialogue. He also stressed the importance of student exchange between our countries for the goal of obtaining religious education.

Deputy Sawsan Hajji Ghulum Takawi thanked Russia Muftis Council as a whole and Rushan hazrat in particular for hospitality, and expressed his amazement over the amount of effort that the Muftis Council puts into the spread of Islam in Russia.

Rushan hazrat Abbyasov reminded that Russia Muftis Council has a number of Islamic Universities, schools and Qur’an memorization centers working under its patronage.

In the end of the meeting, parties agreed to maintain and further develop their close and fruitful relations.
