Speakers fr om Kazakhstan, Turkey, Russia and Belarus delivered speeches at the session devoted to the question of standardization in halal industry, which took place within the framework of Moscow Halal Expo.
All of the speakers agreed on the importance of defining universal standards of halal. They touched upon the issue of meat production in non-Muslim countries, wh ere same facilities and equipment are used for slaughtering and butchering animals both according to halal- and non-halal technologies. This brings up a sensitive issue of cleaning equipment in such a way as to make it ritually clean enough to produce halal meat.
This particular issue was brought up by Marat Sarsenbaev, president of Kazakhstan Halal Industry Association, who has a lot of experience in that field. He also said that Malaysia went far ahead in this field and should serve as a model for all other countries in this matter.
Sergei Krasikov and Rustam Hasanevich, delegates from Belarus, touched on an issue of giving the Muslims from non-Muslim regions the right understanding of the concept of halal and told of their experience in establishing halal standard in Belarus. Rustam Hasanevich has especially noted the contribution of International Center of Standardization and Certification “Halal” of Russia Muftis Council in this matter.
