Acting Chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation Mufti Damir Mukhetdinov commented on the signing of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas:

‘We welcome the signing of the ceasefire and pray to G-d that it becomes the basis for a lasting and long-term peace in Gaza and the entire region. The cessation of bloodshed is always a great joy for any believer. We have great appreciation and respect for the Qatari, Egyptian and all other peacemaking parties who made efforts for the negotiation process and caused the saving of lives and the return of representatives of the two opposing sides to their families.’
