Chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin sent Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas congratulations on behalf of the Russian Muslims on the occasion of the United Nations General Assembly granting Palestine the status of an observer in this authoritative organization. 138 countries, including the Russian Federation, supported Palestine.
Russia and Palestine linked by strong historical and spiritual ties, and most importantly, a heightened sense of justice is inherent in our mentality. It is so broad Russian public, which included more than 20 million Muslims, with unconcealed indignation reacted to the terrible news and criminal policies of Israel against Palestine. Therefore using all legal means they loudly expressed their indignation.
The list of countries that do not support the decision of the United Nations, in particular the U.S. and Israel appear as no surprise, but the Muslim Ummah believes that in these countries there are thousands of sympathizers and supporters to the Palestinians in their just struggle for their rights. Remarkably, this important event was held on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people, which is also celebrated in Russia. Thousands of millions of Muslims mosques turned to his supplication to God, asking for Paradise to innocent dead Palestinians, and peace, calm, patience and prosperity to all Palestinians.
