Ulema Council delegates visit Iraq A delegation of the Ulema Council of the Russian Federation is currently visiting Iraq to attend advanced training courses.

The delegation visited the mosque of Abu Hanifa, also known as Jami al-Imam al-Azam, the tomb of the great scholar, as well as the place where the cholar, imam and founder of the Sufi Kadiri tariqat Abdul Qadir Gilani was buried.

The delegate also attended a meeting with the representatives and leaders of the Iraqi Fiqh Academy, in particular Tuktur Muhammad Salih al-Rashad, first deputy Minister of the Sunni Endowment Office.

During the meeting Shamil Alyautdinov, chairman of the Ulema Council of the RBMRF thanked the other party for organizing the courses and providing the opportunity to visit the historical sites. Both parties agreed that such interaction is especially important in the light of the 1100th anniversary of the official adoption of Islam by the peoples of Volga Bulgaria.

On May 4, the members of the Council of Ulema of the RBMRF met with the Principal of the Imam Abu Hanifa University, Salahutdin al-Samarai, and the imams of Baghdad. After the delegate headed to the city of Erbil, where the trainig courses will take place,

The training courses have been organised as a part of the ongoing cooperation between the RBMRF, the Sunni Endowmne Office and the Iraqi Fiqh Academy.
