A delegation of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Republic of Mordovia met with Consul General of Russia in Jeddah Yusup Abakarov.

During the meeting the parties discussed different topics, such as trade and economic relations between the Russian Federation and Saudi Arabia and organising business missions of companies interested in cooperation.  They also discussed the impact of imposed sanctions on the companies' foreign economic activities and the challenges related to bank transfers. They also spoke about Russian students studying in Saudi universities and the difficulties they faced.

Mufti Rail Hazrat Asainov said, "Taking into account the new concept of the foreign policy of the Russian Federation, it is obvious that our opening to the Islamic world fwill be mutually beneficial".

The Presidential Decree No. 229 dated March 31, 2023 states that "Russia aims to strengthen cooperation with member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, respecting their social and political systems and traditional religious and moral values". The decree also expresses the willingness of Russia to deepen its mutually beneficial partnership with the Republic of Turkey, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Arab Republic of Egypt and other member States of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
