Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin met the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Sultanate of Oman to the Russian Federation, Hamoud Salim Abdullah Al Tuwayh. The meeting was also attended by the first deputy chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of Russia, prof. Damir Mukhetdinov; deputy chairman of the RBMRF for International Affairs, Rushan Abbyasov; and deputy chairman of the Russia Muftis Council for International Affairs, Ildar Galeyev.

Mufti Ravil Gainutdin welcomed the guest and spoke about the participation of the Sultanate of Oman in all international projects of the RBMRF, such as the International Muslim Forum, the Moscow International Quran Reciting Competition and other major events.

Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin also mentioned the recent meeting between the general director of the Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky and Haitham bin Tariq Al Said. He noted that  the contacts based on public diplomacy strengthen and develop relationships between the Russian Federation and Oman not only at the peoples' level, but also on the formal level.

"We are ready to further develop and strengthen our cooperation and interaction for the benefit of Islam and Muslims", - said Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin, noting that Russian Muslims valued mutual understanding and cooperation with the Embassy of Oman in Russia, the Ministry of Awaf and Religious Affairs of Oman and personally with the Sheikh Ahmad bin Hamad Al-Khalili, Grand Mufti of the Sultanate of Oman..

Mr Hamoud Salim Abdullah Al Tuwayh thanked Mufti for the iftar and noted that relations between Russia and the Sultanate of Oman continue to develop. "The religious factor plays an important role in diplomacy. Diplomacy is not only about politics, but also about religion and culture," he added.

During the meetingcMufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin invited Mr Ambassador to take part in the Eid prayer at the Moscow Cathedral Mosque and offered him a gift.
