Saratov Muslims collect donations for the earthquake victims People around the world are grieving for those affected by the recent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.

Last week the imams of the Saratov Cathedral Mosque and the Quranic Centre "Zaid Bin Thabit" raised funds and collected basic essential items to help those affected by the disaster.

People brought funds, clothes and other items to the Saratov Cathedral Mosque.

"Not only Muslims, but also representatives of other religions, as well as residents of neighbouring regions called us and offered help. The victims of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria will be sent warm clothes, hygiene products, tents and sleeping bags, and portable chargers. I would like to thank all those who participated in this charitable initiative," said imam-hatib of Saratov Cathedral Mosque, Rustam-khazrat Mukhitov.

He noted that people have brought so many things that they could hardly fit into two trucks. Apart from that, they were also able to raise over 400 thousand roubles within a short period of time. These funds will be used to buy the required items.

The humanitarian aid from Saratov will be sent to Moscow, from where it will be forwarded to the victims of earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.
