Russian representatives participate in Qur'an recitin competition in Egypt The 29th International Quran Recitation Contest was held inEgypt. The competition is organised by the Ministry of Awqaf and is held under the patronage of the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

According to the Minister of Awqaf Muhammad Mukhtar Gomaa, this year 108 participants representing 58 countries took part in this event dedicated to the Holy Qur'an. The judging panel included representatives from seven countries: Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and the Sultanate of Oman.

The contest included five nominations related to proper recitation and understanding of the meanings of the Holy Qur'an.
At the direction of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, students of the Quran Center "Zaid bin Sabit" (Saratov region) participated in this international contest.

The 29th International Quran Recitation Contest took place on 2-8 February in Cairo.

The program also included cultural activities and historical site tours in Cairo.
