During an official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin, chairman of the Russia Muftis Council and the Religious Board of Muslims of Russia, met with Sheikh Abdulatif bin Abdulaziz Al Sheikh, Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance of the KSA.
Deputy Mufti Rushan Abbyasov and Ildar Galeyev, Russia's permanent representative to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Ramazan Abdulatipov and Russian Consul General in Jeddah Yusup Abakarov also attended the meeting.
The parties noted the high level of Russian-Saudi cooperation was facilitated by the efforts of the leaders of the both countries. The parties agreed that the current Memorandum of Cooperation signed in 2019 contributes to the development of close ties and contacts.
After discussing the plans for further joint projects and programmes, Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin and Abdulatif Al Sheikh signed a corresponding roadmap. According to the document, the parties are to exchange delegation visits, to conduct academic and practical conferences, Quran reciting contests and other cultural, religious and educational events.
During the meeting Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin offered the Saudis to participate in the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the World Muslim Congress held in Mecca in 1926. The Mufti mentioned that the Russian Mufti Rizaeddin Fahretdin was elected Vice-President of the Congress.
In conclusion, Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin thanked the Minister for the meeting and constructive dialogue and conveyed his greetings and best wishes to the leadership and all the people of Saudi Arabia.
