Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin, chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation and the Russia Muftis Council met with the chairman of the Supreme Islamic Council of Turkey, Professor Abdurrahman Hackali. The meeting was attended by deputy chairmen of the RBMRF Rushan Abbyasov, Damir Mukhetdinov and Ildar Alyautdinov, the head of the International Department Ildar Galeyev and officials from the Turkish Embassy and the Directorate of Religious Affairs.

Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin conveyed words of welcome and best wishes to Dr Ali Erbas, hed of the Directorate of Religious Affairs of Turkey. The religious leader of Russian Muslims mentioned the active cooperation of the RBMRF and the Supreme Islamic Council of Turkey related to issuing fatwas, which allows for the timely establishment of a theological attitude towards the most important challenges.

The parties discussed plans to conduct training in Turkey for the members of the Council of Ulema of the Russian Federation, and also considered the possibility of signing a memorandum on cooperation between the RBMRF and the Supreme Islamic Council of Turkey. Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin also noted that the staff of the Turkish Embassy in the Russian Federation headed by Ambassador Mehmet Samsar makes a considerable contribution to the development of Russian-Turkish relations.

At the end of the meeting the parties thanked each other for the constructive dialogue and expressed confidence that they would be able to fulfil the cooperation potential through joint projects.
