Damir Mukhetdinov discusses cooperation with advisor of the Turkish embassy Professor Damir Mukhetdinov, first deputy chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, principal of the Moscow Islamic Institute, director of the Centre for Islamic Studies of St. Petersburg State University had a meeting with Omar Faruk Savuran, Advisor of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Russia.

During the meeting the parties discussed cooperation and implementation of joint projects and issues related to publishing activities, including joint publication of book series "Revival and Renewal" ("Al-Islah wa-t-tajdid") and the textbook "The history of Islam in Russia". The latter will be translated into Turkish and presented at the celebrations marking the 15th anniversary of the Medina publishing house in September 2022.

The advisor mentioned that the Turkish representative would take part in the events dedicated to the 1100th anniversary of the official adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgarians in 2022, in particular the 8th All-Russian Scientific Conference "Shigabutdin Marjani Readings" on the subject of "Islam in Russia: sharing the 1100-year experience of Russian Muslims", which would be held on January 13-14 at the Moscow Cathedral Mosque.

The parties also noted the contribution of Dr. Ali Erbash, Chairman of the Turkish Department of Religious Affairs, in the 14th International Scientific and Educational Conference "Galimjan Barudi Readings" on the following subject: "Principles of intra-religious pluralism in Islamic education", which was timed to coincide with the 1100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam by the peoples of Volga Bulgaria and was held on 22-24 September 2021 at Moscow Cathedral Mosque.

At the end of the meeting the parties exchanged gifts and mapped out plans for the further strengthening of mutual contacts.
