On September 24, a delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, headed by Suleiman Al-Gharbi, Head of the Islamic Organisations Division of the Public Diplomacy Department of the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visited the Moscow Cathedral Mosque. The delegation included representatives of some Ministries of Saudi Arabia and the director of the Muslim World League, Naif Hashim Al Sharif.

The guests were received by Rushan Abbyasov, deputy chairman of the Russian Muftis Council and the RBMRF. The meeting was attended by Ildar Galeyev, head of the International Department of the RMC, and Ali Hasanov, adviser for interaction with Russian and foreign religious organizations of the Strategic Vision Group "Russia-Islamic World".

Rushan Abbasov briefed the delegates on the history and current situation of the Muslim Ummah in Russia, spoke about the partnership between the RBMRF, RMC and government agencies and public organizations, as well as on the international activities of the organizations headed by Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin.

The participants discussed the forthcoming retreat session of the Strategic Vision Group, which is going to take place in Jeddah on November 24-25. The Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation and the Strategic Vision Group "Russia - Islamic World" in partnership with the Muslim World League plan to conduct a photo exhibition in Saudi Arabia dedicated to the 1100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria. The exhibition will showcase the works presenting the past and present of the Russian Muslims.

The representatives of Saudi Arabia supported the idea of organizing this photo exhibition and agreed that it would contribute to strengthening spiritual and cultural ties of Russian Muslims and the global Ummah and enhance the development of interethnic and interreligious dialogue.

Prior to this meeting the delegates met with Farit Mukhametshin, deputy chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs and deputy chairman of the "Russia-Islamic World" Strategic Vision Group.

After the meeting the Saudi delegation attended the Friday prayer and enjoyed a dinner in the Mosque's banquet hall.
