On 24 May 2021, Damir Mukhetdinov, acting chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, visited the Embassy of Iran at the invitation of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr Kazem Jalali. The meeting was devoted to the Russian-Iranian relations and development of joint scientific and educational projects with participation of Russian and Iranian Muslims.

At the beginning of the meeting Damir Mukhetdinov greeted the Ambassador on behalf of Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin. He noted that political and diplomatic relations between the two countries were important for both sides and that the level of partnership between the two states in the international political, commercial, scientific, educational and cultural spheres was steadily increasing. This fact is confirmed by regular meetings between the presidents of Russia and Iran and other high-ranking officials.

The parties discussed the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and its recent escalation in the Gaza Strip, and condemned the disproportionate use of force and actions threatening the al-Aqsa mosque, the third sacred place for Muslims.

Mr Kazem Jalali expressed a high opinion of the level of humanitarian contacts between Iranian scientific and educational institutions and the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, expressed gratitude to the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation and personally to Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin for activities aimed at strengthening the dialogue and mutual understanding between states, peoples and religions. He also spoke about particular Iranian projects where the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation could participate.

At the end of the meeting Damir Mukhetdinov presented the host with recently published editions, including the first books from the "Revival and Renewal" book series.
