Ildar Galeyev, head of the International Department of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, and Djamal Garifullin, representative of the chairman of the Russian RBM in the Far Eastern Federal District, visited the "Russkiy Dom" in Cairo and met with its head Alexei Tevanyan.

During the meeting Ildar Galeyev informed the representative of the Russian House about the contacts and relations between the RBM of Russia and relevant Egyptian governmental agencies, such as the Ministry of Awqaf, the Egyptian Fatwa Authority and Al-Azhar University. He also noted that the cooperation between Russian Muslims and their Egyptian fellow believers was expanding to cover new areas.

Ildar Galeyev provided some information about the forthcoming events devoted to the 1100th anniversary of adoption of Islam by the peoples of Volga Bulgaria.

"Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin suggested conducting these events, and his initiative was supported by the Russian President Vladimir Putin. We would appreciate if the Russian House could encourage Egyptians scholars and experts to participate in the events marking the 1100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam by the peoples of Volga Bulgaria, and invite the Egyptian media to cover the events," noted Ildar Galeyev.

Alexey Tevanyan confirmed that the "Russkiy Dom" in Cairo would provide all possible assistance aimed at strengthening Russian-Egyptian relations in the sphere of culture, science and education.
