Cooperation expands between Russia and OIC On Monday, January 6, Rushan Abbyasov (first deputy chairman of the RMC) met Mr. T. Bakhit (Assistant Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for Humanitarian, Social and Cultural Affairs) and Mr. B. Ansari (Head of the Public Relations Department of the OIC) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The meeting was attended by Ramazan Abdulatipov, permanent representative of the Russian Federation to the OIC, and Ildar Galeyev, head of the international department of the Russian Muftis Council.

The parties summarized the recent visit of Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin to Saudi Arabia upon an official invitation, which followed the visit of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin to the KSA. They also touched upon the results of the meeting held between the head of Russian Muslims and the OIC Secretary General Yusuf Al-Othaimeen and discussed possible ways of practical implementation of the agreements reached.

It should be noted that the recent visit of Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin to Saudi Arabia opened up new prospects for cooperation, as a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Russian Muftis Council, the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance of Saudi Arabia.

During the meeting, Rushan Abbyasov emphasized that cooperation with the OIC in the social, humanitarian, cultural and other areas had always been a priority in the international activities of Russian Muslims.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to expand and deepen long-term productive cooperation.
