Cooperation between Russia and Indonesia An Indonesian delegation comprising school principals, professors, and teachers from various regions of Indonesia, led by Professor Imam Suprayogo, member of the Central Advisory Council, and Professor Asween Yusuf, former Minister of the Indonesian Government, visited the Moscow Cathedral Mosque. The delegation was received by the head of the international department of the Russian Mufties Council and the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, Ildar Galeev, and the leading expert of the department, Artur Gubaydullin.

The delegation was accompanied by the representative of the diplomatic mission of Indonesia in Moscow, Mr. Anjay Diana.

During the meeting the parties discussed the cooperation of Russia and Indonesia in the religious sphere.

“Thanks to the efforts of the Embassy of Indonesia in the Russian Federation and relevant government departments of Indonesia, Russian students had the opportunity to study at Indonesian universities known for their moderate views on Islam, to familiarize themselves with Indonesian reformist thought and theological heritage, as well as implementation of Islamic laws in the society, ”said Ildar Galeev.

In turn, the Indonesian delegation praised the activities of the centralized religious boards of Muslims under the leadership of Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin. The delegates highlighted the unique Russian experience of cooperation between religious and secular universities and institutes.

The parties agreed to initiate a short-term teachers' exchange and to continue the practice of student exchange.

At the end of the meeting, the guests were offered a tour of the Moscow Cathedral Mosque.
