President Putin meets Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin in the Kremlin On June 4, the day of Eid al-Fitr, a meeting between Vladimir Putin, President of Russia,  and Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, the religious leader of Russian Muslims, took place in the Kremlin.

The President congratulated 25 million Russian Muslims on the holiday and was informed about the latest achievements of Russian Muslims, as well as their plans and prospects.

"I would like to wish all Russian Muslims, who represent an integral part of our multi-ethnic and large country, happiness, prosperity, and success," said the President of the Russian Federation.

Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin informed the President about the projects of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation and the Russian Muftis Council aimed at the educational, social and institutional development of Russian Muslims, as well as the promotion of religious diplomacy in the international arena.

"On behalf of the Russian Muslim Ummah, I would like to thank you for your attention and congratulations. Today I had the honour to announce your congratulations on the Russian TV channel and to convey them to our Muslim believers not only in Russia but also in the CIS countries, where our fellow Muslims follow the festivities held in the Moscow Cathedral Mosque with great attention," said Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin during the meeting.

The parties confirmed their commitment to the socialization of Muslims and re-establishment of the national school of Muslim theology.

In particular, the religious leader of Russian Muslims spoke about the recent meeting with the Head of the Presidential Administration, where the parties "discussed very important issues, including Islamic education, which is a priority for us today”.

"We started to work on these issues in the 1980s, but we managed to succeed only in the early 2000s. I would like to thank you for your contribution, your understanding, and your support in the creation of a systemic Islamic education in Russia. We now have several Islamic institutions of higher education that have received state accreditation and have the right to issue diplomas. Our educational institutions have received the licenses. We have now created a multi-level system of Islamic education," said Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin.
