14th International Muslims Forum opens in Paris On 10 December the 14th International Muslim Forum devoted to “Islam and Globalization problems” opened in Paris. The event brought together leaders and representatives of more than 40 Muslim religious organizations, state authorities and influential academic and analytical institutions of Eurasia.

The forum was organized by the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, the Russia Muftis Council, the Secretariat of the International Muslim Forum and the Faculty of Islamic Studies in Paris (Faculté d’Islamologie de Paris).  Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin delivered a welcoming speech, where he reminded that the 14th International Muslim Forum was also organized to honor the memory of several prominent Muslim figures, namely the founder of the Naqshbandi tariqat Bahauddin Naqshband (1318–1389), the padishah of the Great Mughal Empire Sultan Muhammad Aurangzeb Bahadur (1618-1707), the Tatar theologian and historian Shigabutdin Mardzhani (1818-1889), a jurist and statesman Sadri Shribudutdin Mardzhani (1818-1889), a jurist and statesman Sadri Shribudutdin Mardzhani (1818-1889), a jurist and statesman Sadri Shribudutdin Mardzhani (1818-1889), a legal scholar and statesman Sadri Maksudi(1878-1957).

In his greeting speech, Mufti Ravil Gaynutdin noted it was necessary to continue and to strengthen theological and intellectual exchange, thus strengthening the academic potential of the global Muslim community.

The 14th IMF will include the sessions devoted to “Diversity of the Ummah in its unity and solidarity”, “Harmony and consent in multicultural societies: in search of legal and moral decisions”, “The future of Islam: between Quranic humanism and radicalism.”

The forum is supported by the following organizations: Conseil français du culte musulman, The Rally of Muslims in France, Federation “National Vision” (“Millî Görüş”), Cathedral Mosque of Lyon, European Muslim Forum, Institute of Oriental Manuscripts of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
