From dialogue to cooperation: conference held in Berlin Yesterday, the International Conference “From interfaith and intercivilizational dialogue to cooperation” was held in Berlin. Damir Mukhetdinov, the Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, the first deputy chairman of mufti Ravil Gaynutdin, attended the conference as the representative of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation.

The conference was attended by Halit Erin, Director General of the Research Center For Islamic History, Art and Culture  at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation; Markus Grübel, Commissioner for Religious Freedoms of the German government, Bundestag member; Ramin Khasanov, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Germany; Abdulaziz Al-Twayjiri, Director General of ISESCO; Mubariz Gurbanli, Chairman of the State Committee for Working with Religious Organizations of Azerbaijan; the Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria Greek Orthodox church; Mohamed Moncef Marzouki, former president of Tunisia; Khalaf Khalafov, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan; Archimandrite Philaret, special representative of His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia; ) Mark Schneier, President of the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding (US); Abdullah Al Maatuk, advisor to the UN Secretary General for Special Issues, Chairman of the Kuwait Charitable Society; Fahad Abualnasr, general director of the International Center for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID); Rabbi Ehrenberg, leader of the Jewish community of Berlin, and others.

The conference topics included:

- The transition from interreligious and intercivilizational dialogue to solidarity and cooperation as a means to establish peace and well-being in the world.

- Terrorism, aggressive separatism and xenophobia as a threat to interfaith dialogue and solidarity.

- The role of intercivilizational and interreligious cooperation in educating young people, protecting cultural and religious heritage.

- The importance of joint efforts of state, scientific and religious figures aimed at the development of interreligious and inter-civilizational dialogue and cooperation.

The conference was organized by the German-Azerbaijani Forum, the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Germany, the Baku International Center for Interreligious and Intercivilizational Cooperation, and the Berlin Academy of Cultural Diplomacy.
