Russian representative participates in Qur'an Competition in Medina These days the 40th King Abdulaziz International Qur’an Competition is taking place at the Prophet's Mosque in Medina, Saudi Arabia. The event is conducted under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz. The organizer is the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The event has already been attended by over 100,000 people, including residents and guests of Medina.

It should be noted that more than 116 participants from over 82 countries participated in the Competition, which is the second longest one after the Quran Competition in Malaysia.

The Russian Federation is represented by Asylbek Tashtemirov (well-known Qur’an recitation expert) as a member of the jury and by Gadzhimurad Magomedov as a participant.

It should be added that advanced training courses are offered to the Qur’an competition juries on the sidelines of the contest.

Some representatives of the Russian Muftis Council, including Ilyas Ilyasov (Religious Board of Muslims of the Saratov region), Islam Dashkin (Mufti and Chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Penza Region), Ibrahim Sabirov (Representative of the International Qur’an and Sunnah Association) took part in such competitions before.
