Cooperation strengthened between Muslims of Russia and Brunei On Tuesday, September 25, the first deputy of the Russia Muftis Council and the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, Rushan Abbyasov, met the Minister for Religious Affairs of Brunei Badaruddin Othman. The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of Russia in Brunei, Vladlen Semivolos.

The head of the Russian delegation conveyed greetings on behalf of the religious leader of Russian Muslims of Russia, Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, and on behalf of the entire Russian ummah, and expressed gratitude for the invitation of the Russian delegation and assistance in organizing the international exhibition "Islamic Traditions in Russia", which will last for two months. According to Rushan Abbyasov, it is the first time that this unique exhibition is held abroad.

During the meeting, the first deputy chairman of the RMC spoke about the activities of the Muslim community of Russia in the field of education, culture, international relations, and called for active participation in the Group of Strategic vision "Russia - Islamic world" and expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation.


"We are pleased that Brunei was chosen as a venue to hold such an exhibition for the first time," said Mr. Badaruddin Othman.

The minister also noted that the history of Islam in Brunei dated back 600 years, and that representatives of different religions coexisted in harmony and peace in the country. He also mentioned that new mosques and educational institutions are currently being built in Brunei.

At the end of the meeting Rushan Abbyasov conveyed the invitation of Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin to pay an official visit to Russia to develop and to strengthen further close cooperation.
