The delegation of the Indonesian University "Darussalam", headed by the rector of the university, Professor Amal Fathullah, visited the Russia Muftis Council. The guests were received by deputy Chairman of the RMC, Damir Gizatullin.

Indonesian diplomats, employees of the international department of the Council of Muftis of Russia and the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation took part in the conversation.

During the meeting, Damir Gizatullin spoke about the history of Islam in Russia and the life of Russian Muslims, as well as formation and development of Islamic education in our country. The guests familiarized themselves with the achievements and difficulties faced during the formation of Islamic education methodology and standards. He emphasized that the adaptation of young specialists who studied abroad was one of the main challenges.


The parties also discussed the issues related to interfaith dialogue, prevention of extremism and radicalism among the young people, the role of education in preventing and fighting against terrorism. The first deputy chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation also spoke in detail about the academic and educational activities of the Moscow Islamic Institute and the Bolgar Islamic Academy.

Damir Gizatullin also mentioned the visit of the first president of Indonesia Ahmad Sukarno to the Moscow Cathedral Mosque in 1956.

Indonesian guests highly appreciated the changes in the religious life of Russian Muslims that took place over the past two decades.

At the end of the meeting, the parties concluded an agreement aimed at deepening and expanding cooperation between Islamic universities in Russia and Indonesia.
