Al-Quds Day is the devoted to the protection of the oppressed people of Palestine, and was proclaimed by the founder and leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Khomeini in 1978 in solidarity with the Palestinian people.

An honorary guest of the event, Deputy Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Moscow Ahmed Heydarian told the audience about the history of that day, recalled the recent tragic events and urged to pray for all Muslims and other people who found themselves in a difficult situation, in order to establish peace, prosperity and unity.

"Today, the Palestinian issue is being resolved at the political and economic level, but we must support our brothers and sisters spiritually too. First and foremost, we need to pray, call for Allah the Almighty, especially during these most wonderful days and nights of Ramadan, when we are looking forward to the Laylatul Qadr. As we know, this night Allah sends all his angels down to the earth. We should not stay aside and should pray for Palestinian people, " said Rushan Abbyasov.

The cultural program of the evening included a performance of a children's choir at the Embassy of Iran in Moscow. The guests were also demonstrated a film about the life of the prophet Isa (peace be upon him), and after breaking the fast a quiz was held.
