Russian reciters participated in Qur'an contest in Indonesia On 20-25 March Indonesia hosted the Annual Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud Competition on the Memorization of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH) for ASEAN and Asia Pacific.

Five Qur'an reciters from Dagestan and Tatarstan were sent by the Russia Muftis Council to participate in the event. This contest brought together participants from 24 countries. The Russian contestants competed in 4 nominations.

The Russian contestants duly passed all the difficult stages in each nomination. Most of them participated in an international contest for the first time, nevertheless they they were able to represent Russia with dignity. Ilshat  Salahutdinov accompanied Russian participants and ensured coordination with the Indonesian side throughout the entire event in Jakarta.

The competition is held with the support of the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Indonesia and the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Indonesia.

The guests of honour included the Imam of Masjid al-Haram Sheikh Khalid al-Ghamdi, ambassadors of Muslim countries in Indonesia, and numerous prominent public and political figures. Ibrahim Sabirov, a representative of the International Organization for the Holy Quran & Sunnah, was present as a guest of honour in the Russian delegation.
