RMC delegation left for China A delegation of the Russia Muftis Council led by Rushan Abbyasov, first deputy chairman of the RMC, left for China to attend the 6th session of the Russian-Chinese Group for Contacts and Cooperation in the Religious Sphere of the Council for Cooperation with Religious associations under the President of the Russian Federation. The delegation also includes Ildar Galeev, the head of the International Department of the Russia Muftis Council. The event will take place in Beijing on 22 March.

It is to be reminded that a delegation of the Council for Cooperation with Religious Associations under the President of the Russian Federation visited China in November 2009. The parties discussed the development of Russian-Chinese cooperation in the religious sphere in accordance with the plan for implementation of the Agreement on Friendship and Cooperation, which was signed between Russia and China for the years 2009-2012.

This Plan encouraged the development of dialogue and cooperation between the leading religions of Russia and China, and facilitated the establishment of contacts between the Council for Cooperation with Religious Associations under the President of the Russian Federation and the State Administration of China for Religious Affairs, as well as the Interreligious Council of Russia and the Chinese Association for Cultural and Religious Affairs.

As a result, two memorandums were signed between the Council for Interaction with Religious Associations under the President of the Russian Federation and the State Administration of China for Religious Affairs in 2009, and  the Russian-Chinese group on contacts and cooperation in the religious sphere was established based on the memorandum of understanding.
