Mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin meets Ambassador of Netherlands Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin had a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Netherlands, Ms. Renée Jones-Bos, who was accompanied by Mr. Ioan Kurt, counsellor of the embassy, and the interpreter Alexandra Papanina.

The guests were also welcomed by Damir Mukhetdinov, first deputy chairman of the Religious Board of Russian Muslims, and Ildar Galeyev, the head of the International Department of the RMC.

During the meeting Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin spoke about the history of Islam in Russia, as well as the activities of the Russian Muftis Council and the Religious Board of Russian Muslims in Russia and abroad.

The guests expressed a particular interest in the work of local religious organizations aimed at the adaptation of migrants. The parties agreed the exchange of experience can be mutually beneficial.

Ms. Ambassador expressed interest in the problems of the 1990s, when the Russian Ummah faced the problems related to missionary activities and formation of a multi-level system of Islamic education in Russia. “We opposed the religion of Islam, religion of peace, as well as our Hanafi madhab, to the possible propaganda of extremist, alien views", — noted the head of Russian Muslims.

Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin spoke about local  Islamic educational institutions existing for more than twenty years and about the opening of the new Bolgar Islamic Academy in Tatarstan. He described the goals and tasks of the younger generation of the Islamic clergy and asked to help establish strong  ties with the universities of the Netherlands .

Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin also mentioned that close connection was being established with the professor of the University of Amsterdam Michael Kemper, a regular participant of our events. In the beginning of 2017 a delegation of the RMC and the DUM RF led by the director of the Moscow Islamic Institute visited Amsterdam and Leiden universities.

At the end of the meeting the parties expressed sincere intention  to continue productive cooperation.
