Russian female Qur'an reciter participates in Dubai contest A femal hafiza of the Qur'an was sent by the Russian Muftis Councili to Dubai to participate in the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak International Holy Quran Competition.

Zainab Jabrailova represented Russia at this complicated international contest for female hafizas organized by the Dubai International Holy Quran Award organising committee. The contest brought together reciters from 72 countries, including representatives of Arab Muslim countries, South America, Africa and Asia.

The participants have to go through difficult rounds of the contest: they need to answer four questions related to the Qur'anic text, where the judges assess the knowledge of the Qur'an by heart and compliance with recitation rules. Even a small mistake could affect the results, since it was a competition between the best reciters who proved their skills in their home countries.

Zainab Jabrailova memorized the text of the Holy Qur'an in the women's madrasa at the Noviy Kostek village in Dagestan. She successfully passed the preliminary round and proceeded to the next one. She managed to cope with enormous responsibility, anxiety in front of the huge audience and to honorably represent Russia in this contest.

Currently there are several schools for female hafizas in Russia. The graduates of
these schools not only make their contribution to development of Qur'anic sciences in Russia, but also participate Russia in such international competitions.
