Rushan Abbyasov, first deputy chairman of the Russia Muftis Council and the Religious Board of Muslims of Russia, met the Minister of Energy of Industry of Brunei, Mohammad Yasmin bin Umar. The meeting was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei in Moscow, Mr Haini Hashim, employees of the Ministry of Industry of Brunei, embassy representatives and workers of the RMC and the RBMRF. The meeting took place after a congregational prayer in the Moscow Cathedral mosque.

Rushan Abbyasov conveyed greetings from the religious leader of Russian Muslims, mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, spoke about activities of Russian religious institutions and the history of Islam in Russia. He emphasized that Bruneian representatives actively participated in the events organized by the Russian Muftis Council.

“This year the Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University (UNISSA) has signed a number of memorandums on cooperation with the organizations under the Russian Muftis Council, as well as our partners, such as Moscow International Higher Business School. It is noteworthy that a participant from Brunei won the first prize at the International Moscow Qur’an Reciting competition in 2015”, — added Rushan Abbyasov.

The parties agreed that Russian and Bruneian Muslims had many opportunities to develop cooperation in different fields.

“The Islam practiced in Brunei is far from extremism and radicalism. I’m sure this is also the case for Russia. This is what should be the foundation for cooperation”, — said the Minister.
