Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin meets president of Granada Muslim community On Wednesday, 7 June, in the Moscow Cathedral mosque mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin met Malik Ruiz, president of the Muslim community of Granada (Spain).

During the meeting mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin informed the guest about the history and current state of the Russian Muslim community, mentioning different historical periods and regions (Volga Bulgaria, Derbent (Dagestan), Crimea). Ravil Gaynutdin paid much attention to the current condition of Islam in Russia, noting that revival of the Russian ummah started in 1991. Muslims got back their mosques and sacred places, new mosques were built. The mufti mentioned that 8000 mosques had been built in Russia since 1995, including the main Russian mosque, the Moscow Cathedral mosque.

Ravil Gaynutdin spoke about educational projects of the RMC and the SBNRF, including training courses for religious leaders, Moscow International Qur’an reciting competition, Mawldi an-Nabi, International Muslim Forum and many others. He dwelled upon joint educational programmes organized by the SBMRF and leading Russian universities, as well as all-Russian and international conferences and seminars. Mufti Gaynutdin invited the Spanish guests to participate in the event of the Russia Muftis Council. The invitation was accepted.

In his turn, Malik Ruiz shared information about the life and activity of the Muslim community of Granada. Ravil Gaynutdin expressed interest in educational activity of Granada Muslims. Both parties expresses their interest in joint projects.
