Muslim from Saratov represents Russia at Qur'an Reciting Competition in Malaysia The International Qur’an Reciting Competition is taking place in the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, on 15-20 May. The participants compete in two nominations: memorization of the Qur’an (hifz) and beautiful recitation (tilawa).

This competition organized by the Department of Islamic Development of Malaysia, is the most prestigious one. It brings together the best Qur’an reciters every year.

This year Russia is represented by Amina Dmitriyenko, a student of the “Zeid bin Sabit” Qur’anic Centre under the Spiritual Board of Muslims of the Saratov region.

According to Ilyas hazrat Ilyasov, head of the Centre, Amina has successfully gone through the elimination round and will participate in the final round of the International Qur’an Reciting Competition on 17 May.

All contest participants will also enjoy an entertainment programme and a sightseeing tour.

It should be pointed out that in 2016 Amina Dmitriyenko participated in the 1st  International Qur'an Reciting Competition for women in Dubai. In 2015 she was one of the top 10 female Qur’an reciters at a Qur’an reciting contest in Jordan. Apart from that, Amina was the winner of the 1st interregional Qur’an Reciting Competition for women “Living Tradition”, which took place in 2014 in Saratov.
