On 11 May in the residency of the Moscow Cathedral mosque mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin met Haydar Hadi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iraq in Russia. The meeting was attended by Ali Al-Bayati, second secretary of the embassy of Iraq in Russia, Rushan Abbyasov, first deputy of the chairman of the RMC and the SBMRF, and Ildar Galeyev, head of the International Department.
During the meeting the parties discussed the problems of the Middle East and the situation in Iraq and Syria.
The religious leader of Russian Muslims reminded of long-standing friendship between the Muslims of both countries.
“We, Russian Muslims, completely support the initiatives of our President and Government aimed at resolving the dispute between the countries where hostilities are taking place. We also support the Government of Iraq in fighting terrorism, first and foremost the ISIS (forbidden in Russia)”, — said mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin.
From his side, the Ambassador confirmed that Iraq and Russia cooperated in all spheres, including political, military and defence aspects.
The parties appraised highly the traditional Russian-Iraqi ties, and expressed the hope that the political dialogue, commercial and economical cooperation, as well as religious cooperation would expand further.
