The shipping agreement with Iran will be signed before the end of the week, according to the news agencies citing Aleksei Alekseenko, representative of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance. They especially stressed the fact that genetically modified products are banned in Iran.
The ongoing talks in Tehran involve the country's supervisory agencies. Among issues discussed are supplies of dairy and meat products as well as shrimps that have been in short supply since food embargo.
It was previously reported that Iran may start supplying Russia with fish and fish products, including black caviar.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan is planning to increase the export of fruits and vegetables to Russia. According to Uzbekistani ministry of agriculture and water management, the export of food products to Russia in 2015 is expected to rise from 250,000 tons per annum to 400,000 tons per annum in 2014.
"The growth will be mostly insured by the export of fruits and vegetables which amount to more than 80% of the export," said one of the representatives of the ministry as cited by RIA Novosti.
