A regular annual meeting of World Halal Council took place on September 8. It was devoted to such questions as the Halal project of this organization, discussion of certain clauses of WHC charter and membership of new organizations from Denmark, China, Japan and Russia.

A traditionally contentious debate followed on the issues of electrical stunning and mechanical butchering. The issues of gelatine were discussed too.

The hours-long meeting resulted in the entry of International Center of Standardization and Certification “Halal”, along with several other organizations, into WHC as associated members. Samat Sadykov, who was speaking on behalf of International Center “Halal”, thanked the Council's leadership for putting trust in them and expressed his hope that the work of World Halal Center will further contribute to the development of halal industry in Russia and the CIS.

It is worth noting that the head of International Center “Halal”, Chairman of Eurasian Union of Standardization and Certification “Halal” Mr Aydar Gazizov discussed the issue of membership of his organization in WHC with its president Sheikh Tafir Najar.

Another result of the meeting is the signing of memorandum of understanding and cooperation between ICSC “Halal” and Halal Bangladesh Services LTD (organization that provides halal certification service in Bangladesh) represented by its managing director and CEO Jasim Ahmed.
