Today, November 18, 2009 the Russia Mufties Council and the Ministry of religious affairs and awqaf of Algeria signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation. The Memorandum was signed by the Chairman of RMC Mufti sheikh Ravil Gainutdin and the Minister of religious affairs and awqaf of Algeria Aby Abdullah Gulamullah.

This agreement provides for the collaboration and cooperation of the parties in the fields of education, economy, culture, counteraction against terrorism and extremism. According to the Memorandum, the parties’ agreement is aimed at “raising the spiritual, moral, educational, economic and cultural level of people of the residents of the Algerian People's Democratic Republic and Russian Federation, the upbringing of morally healthy younger generation, the establishment and development international and interfaith dialogue, understanding and mutual respect among peoples.”

The ceremony of the signing the agreement was attended by the Russian Ambassador in Algeria A. V. Egorov, the representatives of the Algerian Ministry of Foreign affairs, the mass media.
