On February 16, first deputy chairman of Russia Muftis Council and the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation Rushan hazrat Abbyasov met with the minister of Awkaf and Islamic affairs of the State of Qatar sheikh Ghaith Bin Mubarak Ali Omran Al-Kuwari in Doha.

The meeting was also attended by the head of the international department Ildar hazrat Galeev. In the beginning of the meeting, Rushan hazrat Abbyasov conveyed the greetings of mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin to sheikh Al-Kuwari.

He acquainted the minister with the history, current state of affairs and the ongoing projects of Russian Muslims, and invited him to take part in the next International Muslim Forum that is expected to open in Mecca. Rushan hazrat Abbyasov spoke highly of the activization of Russian-Qatari relations. He specifically mentioned the fruitful visit of the Qatari leader sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to the Russian Federation in the end of January this year and his meeting with president Vladimir Putin.

"We are glad to see that the leaders of our countries actively cooperate and work together on solving various international issues," said Mr. Abbyasov.

The minister, on his part, assured that the cooperation between Russian and Qatari Muslims has high potential.

Among other topics discussed were the questions of bilateral cooperation, including the participation of Qatari huffaz in the Moscow International Qur'an Reciting Competition as well as other representatives of the country in the events organized by Russian religious organizations.

A separate discussion was devoted to the forthcoming visit of mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin to the State of Qatar on the invitation of the minister of Awkaf and Islamic affairs of the country.

In the end of the meeting, both countries agreed to continue their fruitful long-term cooperation.
