Crimean Muslims will be able to complete their hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca) already in this year: Russia's request has received positive answer from Saudi authorities, according to the news agency RIA Novosti who cited a source in the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Crimea.

The Russian party has previously requested Saudi Arabia to let Crimean Muslims participate in hajj this year. In 2014, hajj will begin in the end of September and end with the festival of Eid al-Adha in the beginning of October. Saudi authorities set yearly quotas for pilgrims. Crimean Muslims were included into Ukrainian quota for 2014, but the peninsula was incorporated into Russia in March of this year.

"Muslims of Crimea will be able to complete their hajj by paying $2.5 thousand. Those willing to go to Mecca on pilgrimage need to get into contact with the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Crimea for more details. The deadline for submitting applications is September 5, and the number of tickets is limited", said a source in the Muftiate.

According to the Crimean Muftiate, this year's hajjis will travel to the birthplace of Islam with the tour operator "Muslim Tour".

Crimea is a home to over 300,000 Muslims. Russia's hajj quota for this year was set at 16,400 people.
