Holy Qur'an in the works of calligraphers and artists A solemn opening ceremony of a foreign display of XXII International Qur'anic Exhibition featuring works of calligraphers, artists and scholars from 15 countries of the world took place in Tehran on previous day.

Russia is represented at the exhibition by the delegation of Russia Muftis Council which includes imam khatib of Moscow Jum'ah Mosque Islam Zaripov and artists Marat Maksudov and Renat Simkin.

Artist and architect Marat Maksudov presented his architectural concepts of the future Muslim places of worship: "Qur'an, the open book", "The month of Ramadan", "Duality of worlds" and a project of façades and inner quarters of Moscow Jum'ah Mosque. An architectural model of a tent mosque in the form of Arabic word "Allah" attracted most interest from the guests. A number of works of artist Renat Simkin was devoted to the history of the Creation and human being according to the Qur'an: "Creation of the Universe", "Scores of peoples", "Revelation of the Holy Scripture", "Opportunities of earthy life" etc.

For the first time in the history of the exhibition, it not only included works of art but also featured lectures of foreign specialists on Qur'anic expertise.

Already on the first day of the exhibition, right after the opening ceremony, Islam Zaripov gave a one and a half hour long lecture on the history and modernity of Qur'an studies in Russia. In the beginning of his address, Zaripov conveyed the greetings and kind wishes of the Chairman of Russia Muftis Council mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin.
