A conference on the improvement of effectiveness of interaction between law enforcement agencies in combating Islamophobia was organized by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights in Hofburg, Vienna.

On the instructions of the Chairman of Russia Muftis Council mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, the conference was attended by first deputy mufti, SAMER chairman Damir Muhetdinov and rector of Moscow Islamic University Damir Hayretdinov.

The conference was organized as a discussion grounds for the exchange of positive experiences and recommendations with the goal of raising efficiency of interaction between law enforcement agencies in their fight against Islamophobia.

“The most efficient way to counter all kinds of phobias is through the means of dialogue, education, eradication of stereotypes. However, in some cases timely and competent help of law enforcement agencies is vitally important,” said Damir Hayretdinov as cited by the portal “Muslims of Russia”.

Russian participants of the conference told of their experience of collaboration with security agencies. Among other ways they’ve mentioned lections and seminars on basics of Islam and traditions of Muslim peoples for the audiences of government agencies.
