A meeting between Chairman of Russia Muftis Council mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin and extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Oman in Russian Federation Mr Yousef al-Zajali took place in RMC residency.

The meeting was also attended by deputy chairman of Russia Muftis Council Rushan hazrat Abbyasov and director of the International department Ildar Galeev.

During the meeting that was devoted to the forthcoming visit of RMC delegation to the Sultanate of Oman, RMC head greeted the ambassador and informed him of the history and the modern condition of Muslims in Russia, and stressed that the coming meeting will help promote cooperation in cultural and religious areas.

Mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin personally thanked Mr al-Zaljali and the staff of the embassy for participating in the events organized by Russia Muftis Council. He also stressed the importance of the International Forum that Russia Muftis Council will take part in on the invitation of the Minister of Islam and Wakuf of the Sultanate of Oman.

"We are grateful for the opportunity to participate in such an important event that brings together famous Islamic scholars from all over the world. The topic of the forum [Islamic jurisprudence: unity of humaneness and interest] is particularly important these days," said mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin.

He also spoke of the likeness of Russia and Oman in the matters of tolerance and good neighbourliness. "Both Oman and Russia have been a common home for followers of different religions," said RMC Chairman.

Mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin especially praised the political wisdom of his majesty Sultan Qaboos who successfully avoided turmoil in the times of the Arab Spring.

In the end of the meeting, parties agreed to continue their fruitful cooperation.
