Chairman of Russia Muftis Council mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin commented on the decision of Krasnodar regional court to lift the ban of the Russian translation of Qur'an.

All the praises and thanks be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. Today, Krasnodar regional court has reversed the judgement of Oktyabrsky district court of Novorossiysk that declared the translation of Qur'an by Elmir Kuliev "extremist" and "subject to distruction". But justice and reason have prevailed. The ban of Qur'an in September of this year aroused resentment in the hearts of millions of Muslims and non-Muslims around the world; leading scholars called the ban absurd and embarrassing.

The problem of unjustified bans of Islamic literature has reached such an extent in the recent years that it was mentioned by President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin during his meeting with muftis in October. I want to thank all enthusiasts and activists, legal advocates and lawyers who stood up for the Holy Scripture, all muftis and imams who did not stay silent and instead did whatever they could to bring public attention to the topic of ban on religious literature.

May Almighty God reward them in this life and in the Hereafter! Amen.

It is no secret that many Muslims have started losing hope and drifting into pessimism in the last few months, perceiving the rulings of incompetent judges and experts as the position of Russian state. I'm happy to say that in the very end of the year, the line was finally drawn and—I'm saying it without any exaggeration—the disgraceful affair with the ban of the Holy Qur'an has finally ended, and I hope that other unjustified bans of religious literature will be lifted in the future.
