Head of the science department of Russia Muftis Council, deputy chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of European Russia Farid hajji Asadullin took part and spoke out at the discussion of Religious code drafted by Civil Platform party.

Mikhail Prokhorov presented the project of Religious code drafted by his party, the goal of which is to maintain public order and peace and national security.

One of the articles of the code proposes to delineate powers of authorities in respect to freedom of religion. According to the code, the authorities should not enter into arbitrary alliances with any religious groups, and set up master-and-man relations with them, and nor should they reject religion in itself.

"The main task of the state is to be an unbiased moderator of the social activity of religious groups". According to the authors of the code, this definition is too loose and leaves wide room for speculation. The party proposes to abandon this definition and provide legal protection to symbols and objects of veneration of religious organizations, as well as their places of worship.

The authors of the documents propose to make the procedure of transfer of religious property owned by the state to religious organizations obligatory.

According to Farid Asadullin, this document deserves deeper and wider discussion both by religious leaders and expert community, because at this time it looks more as a declaration of certain socially oriented intentions.

"This document needs more public intention," said the source in Russia Muftis Council.
