A meeting between Muslim religious leaders and Ayatollah Shahristani took place in Iranian embassy.

The meeting was attended by Co-Chairman of Russia Muftis Council, Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Asian Part of Russia Nafigulla Ashirov, RMC deputy chairman Rushan hazrat Abbyasov, extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassadors of Syria and Iran, acting head of Iranian cultural embassy in Moscow Mr Taba Tabai and Head of RMC International Department Ildar Galeev.

Rushan hazrat Abbyasov has conveyed the greetings of the head of Russia Muftis Council, leader of Russia's Muslims mufti sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin. He told of the current state of Muslims in Russia and of the events organized by Russia Muftis Council, including the forthcoming Moscow International Qur'an Reading Contest which will take place on September 15 this year.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a number of international events, including the situation in Syria.
