A prayer room for Muslims was reopened in Domodedovo airport of Moscow.
This became possible thanks to the agreement between the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Moscow Oblast and the airport administration.
Passenger flow through Domodedovo international airport dominates the traffic of Moscow airport hub. Understanding the need to provide comfortable conditions for the travelers and taking into consideration the obligation of praying on time in Islam, the administration of the airport decided to respond to the wishes of Muslim passengers. A renovated prayer room meets all modern safety requirements as well as the needs of believers.
The size of the room is about 30 sq. m., and it also has separate space for women. The room is open 24 hours a day. A special man from SAMMO will look after the room and maintain order. There is also an opportunity to make small ablution (wudhu).
The prayer room in Domodedovo worked part-time since 2002 due to tightened security in the airport.
Domodedovo prayer room is not the only one in Moscow airports. The first one was organized in Vnukovo airport in the end of 2012 and works under the jurisdiction of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Moscow.
