Moscow hosted a round table of the World Islamic Economic
Forum The Fund of the World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) with
the support of the Embassy of Malaysia, the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Russia, the
Malaysian Development Corporation of Foreign Trade (MATRADE) and the Russian
Mufties Council held a round table meeting in Moscow. The round table is held on the eve of the Islamic “Davos” - the Seventh
World Islamic Economic Forum that is to be held June 7-9, 2011 in the capital of
Kazakhstan. Before the event a number of the participants met with the
Chairman of the Russian Mufties Council Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin. The
meeting was attended by members of the delegation of the Fund of the World
Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) headed by the Secretary-General of the Fund Tan
Seri Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak. The parties discussed ways of cooperation within the framework of the
development of halal industry as well as Islamic business in Russia and CIS
countries. The gathered expressed that the existence of the Customs Union
between Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus and the need to use the possibilities of
this common market for the development of halal industry in the
countries-members of the Union. The Secretary-General of the Fund of the WIEF invited a
delegation of the Russian Mufties Council to take part in the upcoming World
Islamic Economic Forum that is to be held this year in Astana, Kazakhstan, 7 - 9
of June. WIEF Foundation is a nonprofit organization with headquarters in
Kuala Lumpur. The Foundation organizes the World Islamic Economic Forum, in
which business opportunities in Muslim countries are presented, and has
initiated several programs that promote partnerships and exchange of knowledge
between Muslim and non-Muslim communities around the world. The employee of the Russian Mufties Council says in the official
site of the RMC: 3rd Round Table of the World Islamic Economic Forum on the
theme "Business opportunities in the halal industry and Islamic banking and
finance: in search of new markets”, is successfully completed its work. During the event, the chief executive officer of Halal Industry
Development Corporation Malaysia Jamil Bidin made a special appeal about broad
business opportunities for halal production. There was also an expert panel
discussion on Islamic banking and finance, entitled "In search of new markets",
which was attended by the Chairman of the Association of Alternative and
financial innovation (Italy), Dr. Alberto J. Brunoni, the founder and executive
director of the Al Shams Capital (Russia), Dr. Adalat Jabiyev and executive
director of Amanarayya Capital Group (Malaysia) Abbas Bin A. Jalil. The event was organized with the participation of Halal Industry
Development Corporation of Malaysia, and it was held within a series of
roundtables held earlier this year in Bahrain and Istanbul. "Moscow round table
was intended to demonstrate the growing opportunities in the halal production
and new markets for Islamic banking and finance." According to the Secretary-General Tan Seri WIEF Ahmad Fuzi Haji
Abdul Razak, the first time one of the CIS countries - Kazakhstan – will host
the World Islamic Economic Forum. "Today the halal industry is experiencing a
major upsurge in Russia and CIS countries, so we expect that WIEF will cause
genuine interest and a large influx of participants" - he said. "We hope to raise the profile of relations by building bridges
across the business environment not only in the Muslim world but also between
the Muslim and non-Muslim world. We also believe that business and business
opportunities can bring tangible benefits to economic welfare and prosperity of
