At the meeting of the Supreme Religious Council of Peoples of the Caucasus in Baku on May 16, 2011 a joint appeal of Muslim religious leaders of the Caucasus to the United Nations was accepted.

"Islamic clergy of the Caucasus will not tolerate usage of religious ideas in the political struggles and ethnic conflicts, as well as interference in the internal affairs of States, the penetration to strategic space. Impartiality and fairness of international operations should not cause suspicionsб or the reputation of the only organization of global scale since the Second World War may be seriously damaged. Such an approach would lead to an objective understanding of the reasons of the problems "- the statement says.

"As spiritual leaders of the Caucasus, we are concerned about the failure within 20 years of four UN resolutions on the unconditional liberation of occupied Azerbaijani territories by Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh conflict on the background of immediate execution of a recent implementation of resolutions and sanctions against a number of Muslim countries", - the appeal says.

Nothing undermines the credibility of the human as double standards, religious leaders say.

The appeal was signed by the chairman of the Muslim Board of Azerbaijan Allahshukur Pashazade, the mufti and chairman of the Muslim Board of the Chechen Republic, Dagestan, Karachay-Cherkessia, North Ossetia - Alania, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Adygeya, Republic of Kalmykia.
