The construction of the Cathedral Mosque in Moscow will be completed, the Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said, in an interview with "Lenta.ru".

"We will finish the construction of the Cathedral Mosque, we have all necessary permits. In previous years it has been largely built, all major construction works were completed," – Sobyanin said, adding that "the mosque is built for the money of parishioners, we have no relation to this."

Referring to the construction of other mosques in the capital, he said that the city is prepared to consider such proposals, however, "there is no such major project as the Cathedral Mosque now." "But as Muslim events involve a lot of people, we give them space in stadiums or other sports facilities" – Sobyanin reminded.

He also said that the city provides the sites for the construction of Orthodox churches - they “are not built within the budget also." "Under the Patriarchate a special fund was established, where money of donors is pooled. But, nevertheless, for those objects that are monuments of architecture and administered by the Patriarchate, we help to carry out repairs, refurbishing, rebuilding. It does not even depend on the denominations; the objective is a preservation of monuments, "- the mayor said.
