Russia Muftis Council, Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation strongly condemn the terrorist act in Paris where several people died or were injured after an attack on the office of Charlie Hebdo journal that has been publishing caricatures of Prophet Muhammad for the last few years.

We express our deep condolences to the relatives and close ones of the deceased and pray for the recovery of the injured and the wounded.

We ask Muslims to remain calm. The leaders of our organization have always reminded of the importance of spoken and written word, we asked people in control of mass media and those who influence public opinion to remember about self-censorship and respect towards the feelings of people with different culture.

Today's world is very complex; changes within the society made it very fragile.

Perhaps the sin of provocation in our world is not less dangerous for maintaining peace than the sin of those who may rise for it.

The mockery of people's religious beliefs is as inexcusable as any manifestation of extremism, any infringement of the life of peaceful man or woman. Terrorism cannot be justified.

We want to remind the organizers and perpetrators of this terrorist act the warning of Allah from the Holy Qur'an: "But whoever kills a believer intentionally - his recompense is Hell".

The criminals, and all who those who bring death and do evil, will be justly punished by Almighty Allah!
